Hatha Yoga For All (12)

Sampoorna Yoga (lineage of Swami Sivananda) - a traditional energising style of yoga suitable for all levels. The class includes breathing exercises, warming-up and strengthening exercises, yoga postures, and deep final relaxation.

This is a recording of a previously live-streamed class.

This class starts out with a relaxation in Savasana/Corpse Pose or a seated position, your choice. We continue with upper body stretches, some exercises to release tension in the neck and shoulders, and Inclined Plane to energize and release tension in the lower back. Then we practice Pranayama, a few rounds of Kapalabhati (Breath of Fire) with Kumbaka/breath retention. We continue with Cat & Cow, Frog, Seal, and Downward Facing Dog, and work our way up to Tadasana/Mountain Pose via a standing forward bend. 4 rounds of regular Sun Salutations/Surya Namaskar to warm up the body, and a few more rounds with variations. We continue on the back with Happy Baby Pose and variation (feet towards head/behind head). Then Core strengthening exercises, Shoulderstand, Half Plough and Full Plough, Fish, Seated Forward Bend, Side stretch, Butterfly, back strengthening exercises (Nose to Knee), Downward Dog to Upward Dog flow, Bow, Toe balancing with spinal twist, Downward Dog with Leg extensions, and Eagle, before lying down in Savasana for the final relaxation.
